Our absolute favourites
With such a wide choice of activities and sights we as Frankfurt insiders would be glad to recommend our favourite spots. If you’re looking for something special, just ask.
WE ARE SO IN LOVE WITH...
Wochenmarkt Konstablerwache | City
The market on the “Konsti” is a real farmers market with produce from the farms in the Frankfurt area – no imports here. Fresh produce, quality and a glass of wine on the side make it one of the city’s favourite meeting places. Every Thursday and Saturday.
Kleinmarkthalle | City
In the middle of the huge stores on the Zeil there’s a small paradise for food lovers. If you like the flair of market bustle you’ll love the Kleinmarkthalle and its classic Frankfurt beef sausages, finest Persian saffron and freshly caught fish.
Berger Strasse | Bornheim
Bars, restaurants, boutiques and tons of vitality. There’s always something going on in the Berger Strasse but elegant calm prevails. Perfect for all those who appreciate a fine choice and owner-run shops.
Maincafe | Sachsenhausen
The name says it all: the Maincafé is directly on the river bank and the spot to go for all those looking for a broad view of the skyline plus waffles and cappuccino. The riverwalk is just right for an enjoyable stroll afterwards.
Day trip to the Rheingau
In addition to castles, fortresses and idyllic countryside the Rheingau is famous for its Riesling wines. The region is on Frankfurt’s doorstep and easy to reach. The Rheingau is involved in the region and offers visitors a great cultural programme. Tip: Do plan a wine tour of the region and the best option is to take the train from Frankfurt main station to Oestrich-Winkel, then everyone gets to enjoy it. The train trip takes just one hour.
Miraflores | Nordend
Bienvenidos in Nordend. In the Peruvian restaurant Miraflores (the name of a borough in Lima) you can sample typical dishes from Peru. Latin American fare from ceviche to cancha can be discovered and enjoyed.
Gibson | City
It’s not the guitar but the Gibson club in the heart of the Zeil that makes music in the city. Sometimes it’s live music, sometimes a very hip DJ – the urban flair and ambience will in any case guarantee hot weekend vibes.
Tanzhaus West | Gallus
Let’s dance – but with some electronic vibes. In the midst of the industrial charm of the Gallus district the former warehouse Tanzhaus West is ideal spot for loud beat music. The varying events ensure that party goers wanting to be entertained find what they’re looking for.
Apfelwein Solzer | Bornheim
Sachsenhausen is definitely the stronghold of Frankfurt’s apple wine taverns. But it is worth going beyond the “Handkäs” mile and check out the alternatives south of the Main. Apfelwein Solzer has one of older traditional taverns and is always well frequented so that an evening spent with Grie Soß (green sauce), Äppler (apple wine) and spare ribs and Kraut is always lively.
Butze | City
Alongside all the cool bars with their fancy drinks in the city there are also one or two pubs with a character all their own. In the Butzenstübchen, that everyone just calls Butze, one thing is certain: you can be sure of getting a really decent beer.
